Finishing up my busy day by chilling with my 2-year old, watching “Monsters University” for the 12th time this week. Overall gauge on today…
→ Productivity: 7/10
→ Creativity: 7/10
→ Mood: 6/10
What did I work on today?
Pagetear:
Wrote copy for a new client’s home page today
Made revisions on emails and landing page copy for another client
Didn’t promote the business at all today — note to future self!
No discovery calls today, a change of pace from the last week
Ghostwriting:
Took on a new client and started gathering context today
Did a bunch of initial setup and plan to start writing tomorrow
A couple of potential GW clients in the pipeline currently, but I’m not actively promoting this service anymore
Content:
I posted on X and LinkedIn, and the posts did not perform well 😃
Thinking about expanding to Instagram and video channels, but cautious of going to wide too soon
Started this new idea of a solopreneur/creator journal and wrote my first (this) entry
What did I struggle with today?
Solopreneurship is freaking lonely. It’s a daily struggle as an extrovert, but I’m glad this is my reality instead of the alternative.
Focus while working at home is also a constant challenge, especially with 3 cats and 2 dogs prowling around my chair all day.
But one unique challenge today? I have a client that seems pretty happy, but just isn’t asking a ton of me. I keep pushing to do more, and I’m trying to be proactive — but the client seems super busy and just isn’t submitting new requests.
You could argue that’s awesome, after all it’s less work to do right? But I just can’t see it that way. I want to serve people 100%, and if that isn’t happening because the client’s busy…it’s stressful. I just want my clients to win.
What did Iearn today?
I’ve been overcomplicating quick capture of ideas. I started using a new tool called Lazy.so and set up a shortcut on my iPhone’s action button for capture. Brought in 10x more ideas today than before.
I usually listen to sports podcasts on my daily walk and any time I drive. But it never sparks my creativity. But when I listen to fiction books, it gets my brain firing on all sorts of cylinders. Lesson in there.
Trying to stay stricter on my time-blocking and calendaring, but I’ve found that you can’t predict how long stuff will really take. So now I’ve started keeping a list of “patchable” tasks that I can slip in whenever a calendar block went short. Getting a little bit more done each day without feeling like I worked more.
What questions am I asking today?
What kind of person do my kids hope I am right now?
What’s stopping me from promoting my business every single day?
What in my work is “hell yeah” and how I can go all in on it?
