Content interviews as a service
Fridays are weird.
Still a weekday, but 90% of the time…people just don’t communicate on Fridays. And when they do, it’s usually to make a last-minute, before-the-weekend request they’ve had in their back pocket for a couple days.
That said, I managed to get through the day just fine and ended it with a family movie night in the loft, eating Chick-fil-A and watching Minions with the fam.
→ Productivity: 6/10
→ Creativity: 6/10
→ Mood: 7/10
What did I work on today?
Pagetear:
Proactive day! Worked on a couple new requests to get ahead of things, but I’m more than caught up across all my clients. Good feeling.
Still didn’t promote the biz! Keep kicking myself at the end of each day for not doing this. Gotta regroup next week on this. I do have some interesting ideas for getting new leads, which I’ll share here once I actually start executing on them.
Ghostwriting:
Revisions, revisions, revisions. This is by far my most hands-on service, and I have some kind of deadline every other weekday.
Booked a discovery call for next week for another potential new client. Again, I’m not actively promoting this business at all — but demand remains strong. It’s more a supply issue at this point…
How many clients can I take on before I cap it off?
What would it take for me to consider hiring another writer?
Content:
Lots of consuming today. Some days are heavy on CREATE, today was heavy on LEARN.
Recorded a podcast for a creator gig that I have.
What did I struggle with today?
Revisions can be soul-crushing. Writing really takes some thick skin to really succeed. Thankfully, I’ve been doing it long enough that I don’t get all that offended by edits and revisions anymore. But it’s still one of the more dreadful tasks. I should clarify by saying that I love getting really good feedback, and revisions in the right context are actually incredibly motivating. But the ones I’m talking about today are for writing that I’m not as deeply invested in. So hard to look forward to “constructive criticism”.
What did Iearn today?
I came up with an interesting business idea today:
Content Interviews as a Service (CIaaS)
The basic idea is to offer a service where clients hire you to record content interviews with them.
It's formatted like podcasts so they can use video clips, audio, and grab text content.
i.e. Longform content you can repurpose.
Target Clients:
Busy founders or entrepreneurs. They need to ship more content but either lack the time or don't want to hire a ghostwriter.
They want to have hands-on experience and express their thoughts, but need guidance on how to start.
Strategy:
Preparation: You prepare thought-provoking questions aimed at generating the most interesting content and insights from the client's experiences and ideas.
Recording Sessions: You record a specific number of podcast episodes together. Each episode would be approximately an hour long.
Share: Export the transcriptions, raw video and audio files, etc. Identify interesting clips and potential hooks for the client to use. Share.
Additional coaching as an add-on
What differentiates this service from a casual interview by a friend?
The degree of preparation and ability to get specific, intriguing stories that are relevant to the audience.
Thought about doing this myself, but lemme know if anyone else wants to build this together!
What questions am I asking today?
Where can I find more interesting questions to ask other people?
Should I stop taking new ghostwriting clients, or hire another writer?
